Several travelers from Wajir to Nairobi were stranded in floodwaters for the entire night.

Their bus, en route to Nairobi at 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, was swept away by floodwaters in the Tula area along the Garissa-Mwingi road, leading to their unfortunate predicament.

Despite the local rescue team's best efforts, the bus remained stuck at publication.

The incident happened after the public was notified by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) that the Nairobi - Garissa (A3) Road was closed because of flooding in the Mororo area between Madogo and Tana River Bridge.

According to KENHA, the rising water level of the Tana River was the cause of the flooding.

An alert states that the Seven Folks Dams are quickly approaching capacity due to the rising water levels. One lane of the road is unsafe due to the flooding at Mororo. The road will stay closed until the waters subside, according to KENHA, who also said that there is a high safety risk for drivers.
