On Wednesday morning, Mombasa County police officers launched an operation against alleged muggers in the Central Business District (CBD) and its surrounding areas. 

A multi-agency team made up of Mombasa County government askaris and officers from the National Police Service (NPS) conducted the 11 a.m. operation.


 After the raid, 140 adults and 10 minors were taken into custody, bringing the total number of suspects under custody to 150.

“Their hideouts were also destroyed and assorted crude weapons recovered. All searched and placed in custody appearing fit and will be arraigned in court tomorrow morning,” read a police report seen by Citizen Digital.

The suspects were apprehended in a number of locations, such as Mbaraki Cemetery, Jalaram feeding center (railway roundabout), Mama Ngina, Makadara Grounds, Uhuru Gardens, and Docks roundabout.
