Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Muriithi, who died in a helicopter crash that also killed General Ogolla and other servicemen two weeks ago, was buried today at his home in Kirinyaga County.
Kinyua's son, 8-year-old Harvey Muriithi, remembered his dad's bravery and how he enforced discipline. His daughter, Effie Nyakio, praised her dad for entertaining her with songs and plaiting her hair. His wife hailed him as a man devoted to his faith and family.
"I will endeavour to train our children in the many virtues you had, the way you taught them to read the Bible and carry it to school, to be a timekeeper and also to be principled," Wambui noted.
Muriithi was one of 10 military troops killed in a helicopter accident near Sindar in Elgeyo Marakwet County on April 18, 2024.
Only two military commanders survived the plane crash.
Other deceased soldiers include Brigadier Swale Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keittany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Major George Benson Magondu (Pilot), Captain Sora Mohamed, Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi, Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, and Sergeant Rose Nyawira.
