Five people have been killed, and eleven others rescued after being carried away by floods while riding in a truck at Sultan Hamud in Makueni County.
According to The Kenya Red Cross team, the five were part of a group caught on video at the back of a truck trying to cross a flooded road before being swept away.

The injured were taken to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
“In Sultan Hamud, Makueni County, a distressing incident has occurred: a lorry ferrying people was swept away by raging waters. We are at the scene and actively responding to the situation,” stated the Red Cross.
“7 individuals were rescued, and promptly taken to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital following the incident. Our response efforts remain ongoing.”
