A wanted terror suspect linked to the gruesome murder of a police officer and two chiefs in Lamu County in 2019 has been arrested.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect, Mustakima Mohammed Ali, alias Abu Mahir, was arrested on Sunday afternoon at the Sambaki Bridge checkpoint while riding a Malindi-bound bus.

According to the DCI, Alli and his accomplices went into hiding, initially in Boni Forest, before being apprehended by security agents and fleeing to a nearby country.
Other members of his accused gang were detained in April 2023 on the Isiolo-Moyale route on their way to Somalia.
"In April 2023, three members of his gang dared a return into the country but were intercepted and arrested along the Isiolo-Moyale highway while heading to Somalia. They were charged at the Kahawa Law Courts and their case is ongoing."
