President William Ruto has appointed Lieutenant General Charles Muriu Kahariri to the rank of General and appointed him the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF).
This following the demise of the former CDF the late General Francis Ogolla who died in a helicopter crash at Elgeyo Marakwet on 18th of April 2024 alongside nine others.
On Thursday, the Head of State also promoted Major General John Mugaravai Omenda to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him Vice Chief of the Defence Forces.
Until his appointment Lieutenant Mugaravai was the Kenya Air Force Commander.
Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed takes over as the Kenya Air Force Commander while Major General Paul Owuor Otieno has been posted to Kenya Navy and appointed Commander.
