The United Kingdom has donated more than Ksh.140 million to help those affected by heavy rains and flooding.
The funds received will be directed to UNICEF to provide immediate humanitarian aid to those most affected by the terrible weather conditions.
“The funding will enable the provision of cash assistance to approximately 6,900 households in the most affected counties. UNICEF will also provide urgently needed health, nutrition, and sanitation services through integrated outreaches, which includes the provision of safe water for drinking, temporary sanitation facilities, and hygiene kits to families displaced by the floods,” the British High Commission announced, adding that UNICEF will also implement cholera prevention interventions.

UNICEF Kenya Representative Shaheen Nilofer stated that the most vulnerable households will get emergency financial transfers.
"The scenario that many Kenyans are experiencing due to recent catastrophic weather and flooding is distressing.
This immediate aid from the UK will help reduce the suffering of displaced people affected by the catastrophe.
"We stand with Kenya in this emergency and will continue to work closely with UNICEF, the Kenyan government, and other partners to support the response," said Neil Wigan, British High Commissioner to Kenya.
Kenya's floods have killed 228 people and injured 164 others.
A total of 42,526 dwellings have been relocated, impacting over 212,630 individuals.
