A police officer has come out claiming to be the legal husband to Sheila Akeyo Odoyo alias Wagesha, who was brutally murdered by her live-in boyfriend at their home in Athi River, Machakos County.
Sheila, 38, lived with a 45-year-old businessman, Jackson Bambo, who fled the scene after committing the crime.
Linda Okinyi, Sheila's daughter, told investigators that she found her mother dead in the afternoon when she went to give her lunch. Sheila, who had significant wounds on her throat, is thought to have been killed on the night of May 9.

Linda further told the police that her father had left the house on a fateful night at around 1 am in a Mitsubishi Outlander without uttering a word.
Sergeant Samwel Odoyo is claiming Sheila's body, confessing that he had secretly intended to reconcile with Sheila, whom he acknowledges as his first wife.
According to Odoyo, they had been together for 13 years when Sheila left in 2017. Even though they lived apart, Sheila was in continuous touch with him, and they routinely discussed how to raise their three children
The police officer claims he can bury Sheila according to Luo customs. "My in-laws are really cooperative in this subject since they acknowledge me as their son-in-law. I am the one who paid the dowry, which is a sign of marriage," he stated.
Sheila will be buried at a new homestead in Soko village, Kanyach Kachar, near Homa Bay. Sheila's elder brother, Peter Obugi, stated that the family acknowledges Odoyo as her spouse.
According to Obugi, a resident of Nyamadede village in Gwassi East, Suba sub-county, Odoyo formalized his marriage with Sheila by gifting them two cows and money.
He stated that in their culture, the woman's family accepts a man who pays a dowry as a legitimate spouse.
Odoyo's relatives insist Sheila was not married to Jackson. They believe the businessman is her lover.
