A man who inherited a 37-year-old widow allegedly burnt her house on Tuesday night at Karadolo East sub-location in Ugenya Siaya County.

Confirming the incident, Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo identified the victim as Grace Auma Oyugi and the man as Isaiah Goro.

“Her house was set on fire prompting her to run for her safety. She took refuge in a neighboring home,” he said.

Upon returning to her home, Oyugi found the house razed down, and Goro was missing.

Kimaiyo said that the woman reported the matter at Ratado police station.

“She lost property worth an estimated Kes 54,000 following the incident,” police added.

 The suspect was pursued and later arrested. He is expected to be in court in Ukwala on Wednesday.
