Airtel Kenya has announced that it will establish 53 new network sites in Mandera County by the end of the year, growing its presence in North-Eastern Kenya.

Speaking during opening a new customer service shop in Mandera town, Airtel Kenya Chief Commercial Officer Aashish Dutt said the company has established nine sites in the devolved unit.

Further, he said the company plans to put up 103 new sites in Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir counties, up from the current 62.

Currently, Airtel’s network covers 89 percent of the Kenyan population. The company has rolled out 480 new sites between December 2023 and date, bringing its total number of sites across Kenya to over 3,700.

“Our strategic vision is to ensure that every Kenyan, regardless of their location, has access to reliable, affordable, and convenient telecommunications services,” he said.

The shop, which expands Airtel’s customer care shop footprint to 41 counties nationwide, will offer SIM cards, home broadband devices, and airtime purchase services.
