Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior has withdrawn the entire Finance Bill 2024 from the devolved unit’s Assembly following residents' concerns.
The county residents had cried foul over the proposed tax hikes contained in the bill.
The governor said the withdrawal was occasioned by intelligence reports that residents were planning demonstrations against the tax hike.
It comes a week after President William Ruto withdrew the Finance Bill 2024 following nationwide protests that led to loss of lives and destruction of property.
