During the recent ODM Party Parliamentary Group Meeting on Wednesday, July 17, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga expressed his opposition to the ongoing campaign for President William Ruto's resignation.

Odinga warned that the push for Ruto's removal could lead to severe repercussions. He emphasized that those advocating for Ruto's ouster might not fully grasp the potential consequences of such an action.

Odinga elaborated on the potential scenarios that could unfold if Ruto were to step down. He explained that, in the event of Ruto's resignation, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua would assume power and continue implementing the current administration's policies, which Odinga criticizes as detrimental.

According to Odinga, such dialogue is essential not for preserving Ruto's position but for safeguarding the nation's stability.

In his address, Odinga underscored the urgency of open and constructive discussions during times of crisis. He warned against the dangers of a military-led government, which lacks non-lethal means of crowd control, such as teargas and water cannons, and instead relies on more severe measures.
