A family in Siaya County has been left homeless after their house was set on fire amidst a land dispute in Uhete village, Nyadorera 'A' sub-location, on Saturday night.

Bernard Omondi, the homeowner, lost property valued at thousands of shillings when his grass-thatched house was engulfed in flames. According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, Omondi reported the incident to the Nyadorera police post, explaining that around 8 p.m., his house caught fire and was completely destroyed.

Omondi mentioned that while the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, he suspects a woman in his family might have set the house ablaze. He recalled that she had previously threatened to do so due to a long-standing family dispute over land.

Kimaiyo confirmed that the fire resulted in the loss of various household items worth approximately Ksh. 20,000. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported from the incident. Police officers from the Nyadorera post have visited, processed, and documented the scene as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
