Residents of Ndia constituency in Kirinyaga County are in mourning after two people committed suicide in neighboring villages.
In Kagio town, a form three student was discovered hanging from a roof rafter at his home, where he lived with his mother. Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander Moses Koskei reported that the 16-year-old had left a suicide note.
Police from Kagio Police Station responded to the scene following an alarm.
The second case occurred in Karia-ini village, Getuya location, where a 69-year-old retired accountant named Bernard King'uru was found hanging from an avocado tree. His wife discovered the body. Local elder Joseph Muriithi expressed surprise, noting that King'uru seemed in good spirits.

Both bodies have been moved to Kerugoya Mortuary for postmortem examinations. This wave of suicides has alarmed Kirinyaga residents, mainly as similar incidents were reported last week in Mwea and Gichugu constituencies.
