The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced implementing contingency plans to ensure that airport operations continue smoothly despite a strike notice from aviation workers.

According to a statement released on Friday, ongoing discussions are being held between KAA management, the Ministries of Labor and Social Protection, and the Kenya Aviation Workers Union to resolve this.

KAA emphasized its dedication to upholding the highest service standards for all passengers and stakeholders across its airport facilities nationwide.

This development follows a strike notice issued by the Kenya Aviation Workers Union, set to begin the following Monday.

The union is protesting a proposed agreement with India’s Adani Airport Holdings, which it argues could result in job losses and the employment of non-Kenyan workers. It is calling for the cancellation of what it describes as the "unlawful intended sale of JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport)" to the Indian company.
