Sensational blogger Maverick Aoko was arrested by DCI on suspicion of fabricating false information. According to section 23 of Kenya's Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act, Aoko was charged with "fabrication of false information" after she was arrested.

As per the charge sheet, Aoko's arrest came after a tweet she made claiming that Defense Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya secured her position through a sexual relationship. However, shortly after her arrest, Aoko deleted tweets about the allegation.

In one of her interviews, Aoko maintained that she believed someone was behind her arrest, stating, "If anyone has any beef with me, they should come and deal with me rather than using the police to try and silence me." The blogger clarified that she would not back down.
