Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has warned that if an impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is tabled, a similar attempt to oust President William Ruto will follow.
This comes amid escalating tensions within the government, with growing rifts between President Ruto's and his deputy's camps.
Senator Maanzo emphasized that Ruto and Gachagua were elected on a joint ticket, and any motion to impeach the deputy president could trigger a parallel motion against the president.
Speaking on Citizen TV's program, Maanzo indicated that if the impeachment of Gachagua progresses, they would also pursue the impeachment of President Ruto, arguing that the president had committed more constitutional breaches than his deputy.

Maanzo defended Gachagua, dismissing the alleged impeachment as an attempt to undermine the deputy president's efforts to advocate for farmers' rights in Central Kenya, particularly those involved in tea, coffee, and macadamia farming.
Cleophas Malala, the secretary-general of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), led by Ruto and Gachagua, also weighed in on the matter, urging President Ruto to halt any plans to impeach his deputy.
Malala cautioned that such an action would have negative consequences, warning that the same forces pushing for Gachagua's removal could turn against Ruto himself.
The growing speculation about an impeachment motion has sparked concern among political analysts, with many viewing it as a sign of deepening divisions within the ruling administration.
As the political standoff continues, the potential for a double impeachment threatens to destabilize the government at a critical time further.
