The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is investigating the Kakamega County cleaning services head, John Koveti Lumula, over the unexplained wealth of Kes 615 million, suspected to have been acquired through the theft of public funds.

According to EACC spokesperson Eric Ngumbi, Lumula was arrested this week and escorted to EACC's Bungoma regional offices, where he recorded a statement.

The Commission has revealed that it launched a probe after receiving complaints that Lumula accumulated unexplained wealth worth millions of shillings through kickbacks.

Further, EACC believes the county official received the money from suppliers and contractors when he served in the procurement department before he was moved to his current department.

Lumula's multi-million-shilling wealth includes a top private school called West Bridge Elite School, Eregi worth Kes 200 million, hotels, landed properties, commercial buildings and high-end vehicles.
