The government has announced that Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers will be gradually employed from January 2025 to improve and support the education sector.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi says there is funding in the budget for employing the JSS teachers.

“There was no money to immediately employ JSS teachers, but there is money to employ them from January; we have the budget. It is there.”

Further, he stated that classrooms would be built as the ministry had already released Sh3.4 billion for the same, noting that the World Bank also supported them.

“We will have classes. Additionally, the funding for building classrooms has been effected jointly with the NGCDF funds, even in the face of the cash constraints that Kenya finds herself in.”

JSS teachers' employment has previously faced promising measures from the government.
