Parents of Silver Bells Academy in Eldoret are outraged after discovering that their children were given counterfeit Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exam papers.
The concerned parents, led by Wilson Ndege, claim the school management misled them, administering fake, photocopied exams to 23 grade 6 pupils.
"The Ministry of Education is aware that this school has been operational since 2006. We need transparency and direction on this matter," urged one of the parents. They’re calling on the ministry to intervene swiftly, as they have paid fees in good faith and are now uncertain about their children's academic future.
Moiben Sub-County Commissioner Duncan Okwach's investigations have revealed that Silver Bells Academy, located in Kimumu Estate near Eldoret, is not registered with the Ministry of Education, nor were the 23 students registered for the KPSEA exams.
Uasin Gishu County Director of Education John Gitonga confirmed that the school's director and his son are being held at Eldoret Central Police Station for questioning. "We are collaborating with KNEC officials and security agencies on this issue, and further updates will follow upon completing our investigation," Gitonga stated.
This incident has raised serious concerns among parents and the public, calling attention to the need for better regulation and oversight of private schools.
