The staff of Body by Design have been called by Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to record statements as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of Lucy Ng’ang’a.

This case, which has captured public attention, centers around the 47-year-old woman who passed away days after undergoing cosmetic surgery at the facility.

Medical reports indicate that Lucy’s death resulted from complications linked to her recent procedures, prompting officials to close the Lavington-based clinic temporarily.

Detectives from the DCI Homicide Unit conducted a detailed, eight-hour search of the facility, gathering evidence to piece together what occurred between the 16th and 22nd of last month while Lucy was in their care. CCTV footage and other materials were analyzed further as the probe intensified.

Representatives of Body by Design, through their attorney Danstan Omari, have defended the professionalism of the medical staff, disputing claims of negligence.

Omari stated that a medical condition like a perforated intestine typically results in death within 12 hours, yet Lucy lived for an additional four days after her procedure.

Despite these defenses, the Ministry of Health and Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council ordered the facility's closure due to violations, including operating without proper licensing, failing to meet medical standards, and overlooking patient safety protocols. Body by Design is contesting the shutdown in court.

Meanwhile, Lucy Ng’ang’a’s family has vowed to pursue justice and encourages other affected individuals to join a lawsuit against the clinic’s proprietors, George and Lilian.

The family’s lawyer, Joe Murage, has invited other potential victims to come forward as they seek accountability and push for change in regulating medical facilities.
