A driver has died following a collision with a trailer near the Kwamajini area along the Matuu-Thika Road.
According to police, the driver tried to escape by jumping from the car but could not. The vehicle was engulfed in flames as it approached Sofia Market.
Firefighters from Matuu quickly responded to the incident and extinguished the fire.
The body of the deceased was recovered and taken to Mbaku Funeral Home.
The wrecked vehicles were towed to Matuu Police Station for further investigation.

This comes a day after 13 people died following a road accident involving a tanker and a matatu at Yala Bridge accident on the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway.
Twenty injured passengers were admitted to the Kakamega Referral Hospital, with doctors attending to them overnight, but it has not been without additional casualties.
Police are still searching for the tanker's driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
