A 23-year-old woman is recovering at home after a brutal attack by her husband in Kericho County's Lelach village, Bureti sub-county.
The area chief, Cyrus Cheruiyot, confirmed that the suspect, identified as Welson Kirui, is currently on the run after assaulting his wife with a panga, causing serious injuries to multiple parts of her body.
According to Chief Cheruiyot, the incident stemmed from a dispute over the construction of their family home.

The victim reportedly requested her husband to prioritize the completion of the house, which he did not take well, leading to the violent outburst.
The woman’s cries for help went unanswered by neighbors as Kirui fled the scene. She was later taken to Kenene Health Center for emergency treatment and has since returned home to continue her recovery.
Chief Cheruiyot emphasized the importance of non-violent conflict resolution for couples, urging them to solve their disputes peacefully. A police manhunt is underway to apprehend the suspect.
