A family in Nairobi’s Kitisuru estate is in distress after their loved one, 26-year-old Mercy Awuor, was reportedly kidnapped by unknown individuals demanding a ransom for her release.
Awuor, who lived with her husband, Brian Andole, and ran a small business in Kangemi, was lured by her abductors under the pretense of a job interview on November 4, 2024.
That afternoon, she left home to meet her potential employer but never returned.

Panic set in when Andole tried calling back but received no response. Later, the kidnappers contacted him, demanding Ksh 150,000 in ransom.
Desperate to save his wife, Andole reported the case at Kitisuru Police Station, but he was referred to Kabete Police Station. However, he claims that officers there demanded money before offering any assistance.
Despite paying, he alleges he received no meaningful help and was subsequently directed to Gigiri Police Station, where the response was equally unhelpful.
Although he provided critical information to authorities that could aid in locating his wife, her whereabouts and condition remain unknown. The police have stated that they are actively investigating the case.
This harrowing incident highlights the challenges faced by families of victims as they navigate Kenya’s justice system, seeking urgent action to resolve kidnapping cases.
