Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to curbing the rising cases of abductions across the country.

Speaking in Illula, Ainabkoi, Uasin Gishu County, Mwaura assured that those responsible for the abductions would be arrested and prosecuted.

He urged Kenyans to report relevant information to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to help establish the truth and prevent the issue from being manipulated for political reasons.

Meanwhile, Mwaura criticized Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi for publicly addressing President William Ruto instead of using official government channels. This came after Muturi openly condemned the rise in abductions and extrajudicial killings, demanding urgent action from the government.

While addressing the media at City Mortuary on Friday, Muturi expressed outrage over the deaths of two young men whose bodies were discovered after their abduction in Mlolongo. He insisted that tackling the crisis should be prioritized over other national discussions.

“This is a grave injustice. How can parents search for their missing children for over 40 days while we focus on the economy? Who is the economy meant for if our youth are being abducted and killed?” he questioned.

Muturi criticized what he termed as the normalization of extrajudicial killings, arguing that the government must protect its people rather than oversee their deaths. He also reminded President Ruto of his campaign promise to end forced disappearances, lamenting that such incidents persist.

The growing crisis has sparked nationwide concern, with calls for a thorough investigation and urgent government intervention to restore public confidence in security agencies.
