Authorities at Muthangari Police Station are investigating a shooting incident involving a bodyguard assigned to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed.

The officer, identified as Muhammed Yusuf Keinan, reportedly shot and killed a man during an alleged confrontation in Muthangari, Nairobi.

According to an official police report, Keinan was walking home around 8:00 PM on Sunday when three men allegedly accosted him. During the altercation, one of the individuals reportedly grabbed his Ceska pistol (serial number F4899). However, Keinan managed to regain control of the firearm after struggling with the suspect.

The report states that as one of the assailants blocked his path, Keinan discharged several rounds into the air in an attempt to disperse them. However, in the aftermath, the shooting led to the death of 38-year-old Amos Lang'at. The other two suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Keinan sustained an arm injury during the scuffle and has since been admitted to the hospital. Meanwhile, authorities disarmed him as investigations proceeded. The body of the deceased has been taken to Chiromo Mortuary for further examination.

Detectives are working to establish whether the shooting was an act of self-defense or if there are other underlying circumstances. They plan to revisit the crime scene, interview potential witnesses, and review available CCTV footage for additional insights.

"It is still too early to determine whether this was a case of attempted robbery or if there were other factors at play. Right now, we only have the bodyguard’s statement," Said a detective
