Nominated MP Sabina Chege has criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for accusing President William Ruto of involvement in illicit dealings with Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Speaking during a Thursday appearance on Citizen TV, Chege termed Gachagua’s remarks as reckless and a potential threat to Kenya’s national security.
In a recent KTN interview, Gachagua alleged that President Ruto has been secretly trading gold with RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti. He further claimed that the RSF is using the gold proceeds to buy weapons, accusing Ruto of being the “real commander” behind the paramilitary group’s operations.
Chege rebuked these allegations, emphasizing that senior government officials must uphold confidentiality, especially on matters that could harm diplomatic relations and national stability. “Leadership comes with responsibility. Taking an oath of office means some matters remain confidential for the good of the country,” she stressed.
She also condemned Gachagua’s appeal to the international community to impose sanctions on President Ruto, branding such moves as unpatriotic and damaging to Kenya’s image. “It’s hypocritical to claim patriotism while pushing for actions that could endanger Kenya’s relations with neighboring nations,” she said.

According to Gachagua, his fallout with Ruto began in 2023 when he was allegedly pressured into hosting Hemedti in Kenya, only to later discover ongoing business ties between Ruto and the RSF leader.
The President has yet to respond to these serious accusations. Meanwhile, Kenya faced criticism earlier this year for hosting RSF-linked groups in Nairobi for a peace dialogue.
Sudan later suspended imports from Kenya, citing national security concerns, which Nairobi dismissed as exaggerated.
