In a statement released on Monday, the business claims it has ended its contract with John Chebochok's company Sislo Holdings and hired all 300 contractors Sislo employed to protect their livelihoods.

In return for jobs at James Finlays Kenya, John Chebochock and John Asava were secretly caught on camera preying on female employees.

The women in the BBC's Africa Eye program described how the two people infected them with HIV because they had to accede to their demands to obtain employment.

Nowhere in our business is there room for this kind of behaviour. Everyone at Finlays should feel secure when they are there for work. We have solid protocols and processes in place to avoid abuse, including thorough staff supervision, comprehensive and ongoing training programs, an anonymous third-party reporting hotline, and devoted welfare and medical personnel on site, Finlays stated in the statement.

The company added that it has notified the Kenyan authorities about the situation and launched internal inquiries to learn the truth about the exposé.

"We informed the Kenyan Police of the BBC's charges against John Chebochok and John Asava. We will keep up our tight collaboration with the police and exchange any new information from inquiries. To fully comprehend what transpired and where we can improve, a separate investigation has been opened, the statement continued.

Finlays added that its review would look at the specific exploitation situations brought up by the program and determine how the company can improve its approach to preventing and dealing with sexual violence, abuse, and harassment generally.
