Owalo identifies digital infrastructure, digital services and data management, digital skills, digital entrepreneurship, and effective alignment with policy, legal, and regulatory frameworks as the five primary pillars supporting the agenda for digital transformation.
Also, he said that the E-citizen platform had already received 839 new services. By June 2023, he hopes to have added 300 services every week to the site.
Thus, he continued, "We are making sure that KRA can contribute and that we have enough resources for our tax income to be able to expand and bring more people on the tax base and boost our recurrent and development expenditure."
The government has started providing good internet that is available and accessible everywhere as part of the digital infrastructure pillar.
On the same day, Owalo said that, in collaboration with the business sector, they are extending the national digital superhighway fibre optic cable by 100,000 kilometres over the following five years.
With cabinet permission in place, he stated, "the rest will be completed by the private sector. We are now ready to roll out an initial 5,000 km by June 2023."
The government is empowering people with digital literacy and skills through learning and entrepreneurship by establishing digital village smart hubs and studios inwards, which would assist the online jobs, ideally for the young.
He claimed that people with digital talents could adopt, utilize, and profit from online technical, business, and artistic prospects.
