Former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has gotten into more controversy with a state agency after he ignored a request from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to record a statement about what happened during the alleged Karen house invasion.

This is in response to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission's (EACC) request to serve Matiang'i records. According to sources, EACC has already requested certified copies of Matiang's prior income, asset, and liability statements in a letter to the head of the public service.

It is related to another issue with DCI. The former CS disobeyed a summons from the DCI demanding him to appear for questioning regarding the purported police raid at his home two weeks ago on Friday last week.


The former CS's attorney, Danstan Omari, refuted the supposed summons while defending his client for failing to appear before DCI's Kiambu Road headquarters, alleging that neither the former CS nor his legal representation had received such a direction.

Omari asserted that Matiang'i would only appear for interrogation if the DCI adhered to the summons' predetermined rules. Also, it was said that the previous CS was not present in the nation at the time of summoning.
