According to his attorneys, former CS Fred Matiang'i will be charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and publishing false information. It occurred while former CS Fred Matiang'i was being questioned over the purported raid on his Karen home when Azimio leader Raila Odinga conducted a walk-in at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office on Kiambu Road.

Under strict security, Mr Odinga arrived just before 3 pm but was not allowed inside the building. As it's a public office, Mr Odinga claimed he has the right to access the location.

"No Matiang'i, no peace!" could be heard being chanted by a crowd assembled outside.

Senator Edwin Sifuna, who was with him, was also turned away.

However, Dr Matiang'i's legal team had earlier told the Nation that it had given the investigators the choice of charging him or walking away. The former CS had been threatened with detention after his attorneys recommended he not respond to some inquiries from detectives at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Kiambu Road.

Dr Matiang'i's legal team announced the former CS had been released after Mr Odinga arrived, adding that the police would give him the notice to appear in court.
