Babu Owino, a member of parliament for Embakasi East, has ordered police to keep deploying tear gas on Azimio la Umoja supporters.

Speaking to Kenyans from the House of Representatives, Owino said that the police were carrying out their duties and judiciously employing tear gas to disperse the crowds.

He encouraged the demonstrators to fight back, urging the police to exercise restraint and not be misused even though they had more significant issues than the average mwananchi.

"Please purchase more tear gas, and we need it. First, today's tear gas was significant, and we are still preparing for more. Kwanza ya leo ilikuwa tamu sana na bado tunaprepare. Despite the deployment of tear gas and gunshots, we will continue to fight. We'll fight back if you attack. The Azimio team will perform demos each week, Owino added, adding, "This is nothing but a practice. It is better to imagine what we are doing than to feel it.

Owino, on the other hand, expressed regret over the detention of some Azimio-affiliated lawmakers, calling it arbitrary detention of the party leaders.

Opiyo Wandayi, the minority leader, has been transported to Kiambu. What they intend to do with him at Kiambu is still being determined. Four MPs, including Wandayi, have been detained due to the protests in Nairobi.

Owino also criticized President William Ruto for breaking his vow to refrain from abusing and deploying police officers, asking why the police were out in the streets attempting to dissuade supporters from protesting.
