Following two separate vehicle incidents along the Sagana-Karatina route in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, one person died, and eleven others were seriously injured.

According to sources, the first accident occurred at the Kirinyaga construction area between the Kibingoti market centre and Kiangwaci when a saloon vehicle travelling to Sagana lost control and rolled multiple times before landing in the Ragati River.

A woman, one of four people in the automobile, died on the scene, while the other three were transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

"The driver of the Saloon vehicle drove a Toyota Ractis towards Sagana and, as he approached the Kirinyaga development areas, lost full control of the vehicle, swerved from left to right, and veered off the road, landing in the Ragati River," Ndia Deputy Police Commander Moses Koskei revealed.

Commander Koskei also stated that the second accident occurred in the Kibirigwi area when a canter travelling from Karatina to Sagana experienced a break failure and collided head-on with a matatu travelling in the opposite direction, resulting in eight passengers suffering severe injuries.

"The passengers of the two sustained serious injuries, and they were taken to the Karatina sub-county hospital," Koskei said.

The woman's body was transferred to Murang'a Hospital's mortuary, and the three automobiles were towed to the Sagana police station.
