The government plans to provide internet access in villages to help youth get online job opportunities to earn a living.
ICT CS Eliud Owalo has said that his ministry has implemented modalities to ensure rural areas and schools have Wi-Fi to enhance internet access.
Further, he said that the government plans to increase employment opportunities among the youth by providing internet access across the country.
“ Learners and youth will access the internet on their phones and computers,” Owalo said.
He added that Connecting villages and schools with the internet will enable them to use the internet to do online jobs in the digital era where youth are tech savvy.
The CS was speaking at Rakwaro chief's camp in Rachuonyo North sub-county, Homa Bay, where he distributed relief food to reduce famine's adverse impact.
He also distributed food on Mfangano Island, Suba Central. Families in islands like Takawiri, Ngodhe, Ringiti and Remba also benefited.
“The government has a good plan for developing a long-term solution to food security. The foods we give here are for a short period as we plan to have plenty in future,” he added.
Additionally, the CS asked leaders from Nyanza to put politics aside and develop ways of developing the region.
