President William has appointed Bishop David Oginde to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) as the chairman.

Bishop Oginde will now take over for Eliud Wabukhala, who left in January 2023 after serving for six years, according to a special gazette notification dated May 2, 2023.

The notice reads that in exercising the powers conferred by section 10 (5) of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Act. 2011, William Suomi Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoints David Adang Oginde (Dr.) as Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for six years.

President Ruto nominated the former CITAM Bishop on March 11, 2023, based on recommendations from the Public Service Commission (PSC).

He came before the National Assembly's Justice and Legal Affairs committee for vetting last month, and his nomination was approved.

During his vetting, Bishop Oginde pledged to enforce zero tolerance for graft if chosen for the job.

He stated that corruption is corruption no matter where it occurs. If something dodgy is discovered in churches, mosques, or even private organisations, it will be dealt with.

He said that if he loves this country, he would like to ask the Judiciary and the Law Society of Kenya to focus on removing corruption. Some people are released for flimsy reasons or on technicalities, giving the public the impression that justice was not served.
