The separation case between Bona Mugabe and Simba Mutsahuni Chikore disclosed the enormous amount of money held by former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe's daughter.

Based on legal documents obtained by the BBC, Bona filed for divorce from Simba in March 2023, and the former wishes to divide assets that include 21 farms and more than 25 residential units.

The Dubai residence is worth $80 million (Kshs. 10,911,200,000).

Simba also owns millions of dollars in cash, corporations, and movable goods as marital property that must be divided if the divorce is granted.

"Defendant played a part in acquiring the property through his savings from his former jobs as a pilot and his agricultural venture," Simba stated in response to his wife's divorce suit filed in the High Court.

The respondent also stated that he contributed to the money through gifts from his father-in-law for services, jobs, and special projects performed on behalf of the late Mugabe.

However, a source close to Mugabe's family told the BBC that the former Zimbabwe president had no assets in his possession when he died. He also questioned if Bona held the property claimed by her former spouse.

Bona and Simba married in 2014 in a splendid ceremony attended by various heads of state.
