Recently, a disturbing incident occurred at the funeral service of former MCA Stephen Maloba in Kakamega. A group of MCAs tried to prevent Mumias East MP Peter Salasya from speaking to the mourners.

The MP acknowledged that as he got up to speak, some MCAs took away the microphone and then physically attacked him. However, he stated that he was able to defend himself using his team and the karate skills he has acquired since he became a Member of Parliament, which prevented him from sustaining any injuries.

"When I stood to speak, they attacked me and grabbed the microphone. Fortunately, my team saved me, and also Karate skills I gained since joining Parliament came in handy," Peter Salasya said.
