Former Member of Parliament Hassan Osman has petitioned the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) to prevent former President Uhuru Kenyatta from holding the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference on May 22, 2023.

The former legislator, a Jubilee Party member, expressed worry that the conference was improper and illegal and could destabilize the party.

He goes on to say that the two warring groups, one led by Kenyatta, Jeremiah Kioni, and Kagwe Gichohi, and the other by Sabina Chege and Kanini Kega, have tried to manufacture the party constitution, membership, and leadership.

According to the certificate of urgency, Hassan Osman requests that the court halt the NDC, stating that the party branches are currently dormant and that party papers are not easily accessible, creating concerns that strangers may attend the delegates' meeting.

Earlier this month, Uhuru Kenyatta was deposed as leader of the Jubilee party, increasing squabbles within the erstwhile ruling party. Following a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the Kanini Kega-led faction of the party announced that former Murang'a Woman Rep Sabina Chege is the new acting party leader.

After a meeting in nairobi, kanini kega said that Uhuru Kenyatta is no longer their party leader, and they have replaced him with Sabina Chege.

After Kanini clashed with Jeremiah Kioni over who was the genuine Secretary-General of the former ruling party, the party was rocked by leadership wrangling.

Adan Keynan, Vice-Chairman of the Jubilee Party, stated that the destiny of besieged Kioni is in the hands of the party's internal dispute resolution committee.

The Political Parties Tribunal rejected to overturn the NEC resolution that appointed EALA MP Kanini Kega as his substitute.

In its April 16 verdict, the tribunal stated that the notification for the National Executive Committee meeting issued on February 2 and the subsequent NEC meeting on February 10 that imposed Kega were both done in conformity with the party Constitution.
