President William Ruto has blamed the unreliability of Kenyan tree-planting campaigns on a lack of prayer.

Ruto stated in Israel after planting a tree in the Grove of Nations in Jerusalem Forest on Tuesday that tree planting is now a spiritual practice for him after learning that Israelis pray before planting trees.

"That event has given me a new perspective on tree planting; that it is more than just a good way to protect our environment." I was delighted to discover that it is also biblical and spiritual. "For the first time, I discovered that we must pray before planting trees," stated the President.

"We've always attempted to establish trees in Kenya, and our success has been mixed, I think because we didn't have the element of prayer," Ruto explained.

He informed Israeli delegates that Kenyans would begin praying before planting trees to achieve his lofty goal of planting 15 million trees in the next ten years.

"And now that we have, I am very sure that we will achieve our goal of planting 15 billion trees over the next ten years," he stated.

President Ruto tweeted about Israel's efforts to restore the ecology after planting a tree with First Lady Rachel Ruto in the Grove of Nations in Jerusalem Forest.

"We are pleased that Israel is among the world's leaders in restoring our ecosystem." He added that Kenya will closely monitor these consistent measures toward a more sustainable future for all," he added.

Last December, on his 56th birthday, Ruto planted 56 trees in Ngong, Kajiado County, as part of a tree-growing effort.

The National Tree Growing & Restoration Campaign aimed to motivate Kenyans to plant trees around the country to mitigate the consequences of climate change.
