A request for action has been filed against Siaya Governor James Orengo for allegedly excluding his deputy William Oduol from office.

According to the suit filed by Peter Agoro, Erick Onyango, and Elizabeth Akinyi, the deputy governor has been denied the basic needs to live with dignity as a human being and to meet his day-to-day demands.

They urge the court to order the defendants to restore the deputy governor's privileges and obligations so that he can assist the people of Siaya.


They also want the court to force EACC to conduct investigations into the behaviour of Governor Orengo and his officers to bring criminal and civil charges against the county leader.

The applicants claim that the county leader has stymied Oduol's service delivery efforts.

"Without lawful reason or authority, Mr Orengo has intentionally continued to not only frustrate Oduol on service delivery activities, but he has also withheld benefits and allowances payable in his position as the Deputy Governor, thereby affecting the officer's output," according to the petition.


The complaint suit was filed in the High Court in Nairobi, but Justice Hedwig Ong'udi ruled it should move to the High Court in Siaya to hear and resolve the petitioners' problems.

They allege that the deputy governor needs to be made aware of county problems and affairs and that his security detail has been withdrawn.

They ask the high court to prevent the governor and others from dismissing the deputy.
