On May 12, the Global Fund demanded a refund of Ksh184 million, accusing officials at the Kenyan Ministry of Health of misappropriating funds during a Malaria awareness campaign. The Geneva-based organization stated in a letter to the Ministry that irregularities were found during an audit of the campaign funds. The organization alleges that the funds were stolen between 2020 and 2021.
“The review has identified questionable costs totaling Ksh184 million, as well as suspicious fraudulent payments and activities,” according to a portion of the letter.
