The Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, announced that Esther Ngero, the Principal Secretary for Correctional Services, has resigned from her position to pursue personal interests. Ngero had recently been transferred from the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, to the state department of Correctional Services.
Her reassignment occurred amidst the dismissal of the former Health Principal Secretary following a new scandal involving the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA). The specific reasons that led to Ngero's decision to resign remain unclear.

With a background in accounting, Ngero had amassed over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, establishing herself as a petroleum expert.
The departure of Ngero, a senior government official, after just six months in office poses a challenge for President William Ruto, who now needs to fill the vacant position.
