Alex Olaba, a former rugby player, was sentenced to six years in Jail for threatening to kill a witness in a rape case.

Olaba was convicted on two charges of conspiracy to murder and obstructing justice.

"Although the accused is remorseful, the charges he faces are serious." "I convict and sentence him to six years in prison on count one of conspiracy to kill and two years in prison on count two of interference with judicial process," Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo ruled on Wednesday, adding that the terms will run concurrently.

Many times between April 14 and April 22, Olaba conspired to kill K.A., and on April 22, 2023, he interfered with the trial process by attempting to kill the crucial witness.

Mr Olaba is accused of conspiring to murder one K.A. on various dates between April 14 and 22 with others not in court.

He is facing rape charges alongside fellow rugby player Frank Wanyama. They are accused of committing the crime together on February 11, 2018, in a Highrise, Nairobi apartment.

Olaba and Wanyama were convicted guilty of rape and sentenced to 15 years in Jail.

They filed an initial appeal with the High Court, and Justice Ngenye Macharia overturned the sentence.
