President Ruto noted during the introduction of the Mavoko Affordable Housing Project in Syokimau that the program was aimed to benefit Kenyan business owners and that to increase their limit in the Fund Kitty, they must comply with quick loan payback.
He explained that they said they wanted to help Kenyans at the bottom, which is why they said they needed affordable credit for people running small businesses.
The head of state added that they have launched the first phase of the Hustler fund and plan to launch the second phase in February, and he would like to encourage Kenyans who have already borrowed to pay off their debts so they can increase their limit
The president also said that the Hustler Fund has a pension plan, and he acknowledged that the program appears to outperform the Nation Social Security Fund (NSSF) in terms of saving collecting.
Ruto commended those Kenyans who had registered in the kitty, saying that saving would help the country's development.
He added that investing in a business is a function of saving or that one cannot invest in something they do not have.
The Hustler Fund, President William Ruto's digital financial inclusion project, provides credit to individuals and MSMEs. Individuals can borrow between Sh500 to Sh50,000.
Kenyans borrowed an average of Sh17 million each hour on the first day, demonstrating the demand for low-cost loans.
Those who want to borrow from the Fund can dial *254#. A Kenyan citizen of 18 years or older with a valid Identification Card and a registered mobile number with a mobile networks operator such as Safaricom, Airtel, or Telkom is required.
