The Siaya County ODM Party leadership has expelled Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol.

Following a meeting with delegates, Siaya's Organizing Secretary, Walter Okello, stated that the party had decided to cut company with Oduol due to his treachery.

The party statement reads in part. This meeting unanimously resolved that the Siaya County Deputy Governor be forced to resign from his position because he no longer subscribes to the party's ideals and aspirations." "The meeting resolved that he be expelled, and he is at this moment expelled

The conference, which Siaya Governor James Orengo attended, also discussed filling other party positions that were left vacant by defections to the UDA.

These resolutions come in response to an order from the ODM's Secretary for Political Affairs, Opiyo Wandayi, who ordered Oduol to leave because of his 'evidently toxic connection' with Governor James Orengo.

Wandayi stated that the impasse could disrupt the county's regular functioning and that excellent service delivery cannot be assured.

He said Hon. Oduol should tender his resignation immediately, allowing Hon. Orengo to pick a substitute with whom he could co-manage the County Government of Siaya.

A bill presented by Asembo East ward legislator Gordon Onguuru in the County Assembly aims to remove Oduol from office for abuse of power.

In a meeting of delegates today, the ODM party in Siaya decided to dismiss deputy governor William Oduol from the party on suspicion of being associated with the UDA party and obstructing the efforts of the ODM party that selected him to carry out his duties in Siaya County.

Last week, William Oduol, the Deputy Governor of Siaya, spoke out about his continuing feud with Governor James Orengo. Oduol stated that he had no ill will against Orengo and that the differences between himself and the Siaya Governor were ideological.

Oduol said he and Orengo parted ways when he saw unusual withdrawals from Siaya County's imprest account towards the end of November 2022.

When he threatened to expose the incident to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the financial officers confessed.

The Siaya DG questioned Orengo about the withdrawals, but the Siaya Governor allegedly dismissed his questions.

Oduol claims that he expected the erratic withdrawals to stop because he contacted Orengo, so he left the situation alone. According to Oduol, the transactions, nevertheless, persisted.

When he presented his results to the Siaya County Assembly, officials allegedly stated that he had failed to prove his assertions.

According to Oduol, because there are no audit trails, it is simpler for county authorities to take monies from the imprest accounts.
