The Republic of Korea donated 283 bicycles to Mama Doing Good, according to First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Yeo Sung-Jun, and his wife, Ms Hoeseung Hwang, attended the handover ceremony at the State House.

Mama Rachel Ruto expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Republic of Korea for its persistent commitment to promoting sustainable transportation and empowering citizens through bicycle donations.

The donation includes 100 commuter bicycles, 155 electric bicycles, and 28 mountain and road bicycles, all of which will help Kenya improve non-motorized mobility.

She emphasized that road transportation contributes up to 10% of global carbon emissions, making cycling a critical avenue to a secure and sustainable future for all. Cycling is a zero-emission means of transportation that reduces greenhouse gas emissions significantly compared to vehicles that run on fossil fuels.

The First Lady emphasized the donation's broader significance, adding that it helps to promote a healthier and more environmentally conscious society.

The bicycles will be delivered to women and men throughout Kenya, allowing them to join a worldwide cycling community and symbolizing empowerment, freedom, and new opportunities.

Mama Rachel Ruto emphasized the significance of campaigning for safe and inclusive cycling infrastructure, making cycling a viable alternative for individuals of all ages, genders, abilities, and financial levels. She recognized the importance of the "Share the Road" initiative in promoting safe and environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

Ambassador Yeo Sung-Jun said the event is a watershed moment in our joint commitment to empowering women, supporting sustainable transportation, and developing a greener future.

It demonstrates our two countries' strong ties and our constant commitment to supporting efforts that promote gender equality. "Our belief in the power of sustainable mobility is symbolized by the donation of approximately 300 bicycles worth approximately 200,000 US dollars," Ambassador Yeo Sung-Jun remarked.

Finally, Mama Rachel Ruto expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Republic of Korea for its support and partnership. She praised their significant efforts, which will live on in the hearts of Kenyans forever.
