Raila Odinga, the head of the Azimio coalition, has urged MPs linked with the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party to vote against the disputed Finance Bill 2023.

Raila announced at a press conference on Monday that the coalition would provide more details on its position on the Bill on Thursday.

"The Azimio coalition has directed all of our MPs to oppose the bill vehemently." "The electorate should be on the lookout for legislators who will support the bill because doing so would be a betrayal to Kenyans," raila said.

The Azimio coalition has now requested that the Finance Bill 2023 be removed, claiming that its measures will burden Kenyans already suffering difficult economic circumstances.

"The proposed turnover tax is essentially an asset tax whose primary goal is to impoverish the mama mbogas, boda boda, and other vulnerable Kenyans struggling to make a living in these difficult economic circumstances," Raila explained.

The controversial law is set to be introduced in parliament, setting up a political showdown between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza legislators who have disagreed on several of the provisions. The proposed required 3% Housing Fund is one of the critical points of disagreement in the Bill.
