Kithure Kindiki, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, has directed establishment of seven new Divisions in West Pokot County.

Kindiki, speaking at a security baraza in Sarmach, also directed the building of a GSU camp in the Sigor Constituency.

The CS committed to reducing instability in the North Rift, Eastern, and Coast regions by increasing the number of police personnel and National Police Reservists stationed there.

"Security operations in the North Rift Valley, Upper Eastern, North Eastern, and Upper Coast regions primarily aim to silence the guns, restore law and order, and reassure residents of their safety and security," Kindiki explained.

"Once the armed criminals have been neutralized and all firearms illegally in civilian hands have been recovered," he added, "the government will launch an extensive martial plan to develop these regions through infrastructure, agriculture, and education."

Kindiki stated that all schools in West Pokot that bandits vandalized would be reopened and that more instructors would be dispatched to the area to ensure the full resumption of learning.

"All schools vandalized by bandits and armed criminals in West Pokot County will be immediately rebuilt by the Kenya Defence Forces, with the assistance of NYS officers," he stated.
