Erica Muiruri, the daughter of media personality Ciku Muiruri, and her companion Shanice Agose were freed in Thika on Sunday evening, eight days after they were kidnapped in Nairobi's Westlands.
The two were kidnapped by a taxi driver on Rhapta Road in Westlands and found 'visibly weak and scared' in a one-room shack in Mang'u, Gatundu North Constituency.
DCI Thika West detectives rushed to the residence, rescued the women, and arrested two suspects, Timothy Kiragu Ng'ang'a (34) and Samuel Kipkurui (33), in Thika's Ngoigwa district.
"After a quick search, the phone of Erica Njeri was recovered wrapped in foil paper." "After being interviewed, they led detectives to the Mang'u Gatukuyu area in Gatundu North, where they had rented a single room and were keeping the victims," according to a police report.

According to police, the victims were rescued alive but weak and disturbed. The kidnappers had wanted a ransom of Ksh.250,000 from both parents. The girls were allegedly served mandazi and water. Erica and Shanice were reunited with their relieved parents on Sunday and transported to the hospital for a medical check-up.
Last week, Ciku Muiruri, a media celebrity, is distraught following the abduction of her daughter Erica Gachoka and her companion Shanice Agose on Saturday night.
Erica Gachoka is a 26-year-old University of Nottingham alumni and the founder of the Le Ngai Foundation. We are hoping for her safe return.
