To curb rising road accidents, the Kenya National Highway Authority (KENHA) will construct road bumps to slow down vehicles along the Emali-Loitoktok road.

This is after a student was killed on Sunday at Kimana Trading Center after he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle.

KENHA Senior Engineer in charge of Emali – Loitoktok Road, Eunice Kiambi, said the authority will also establish road signs along the roadside for directing vehicles and pedestrians.

While addressing the local community at Kimana on Monday during a collaborative meeting, Kiambi condoned the bereaved family and appreciated the residents for not closing the road to express their anger.

The engineer also urged the road users to be wary while crossing the road by ensuring all sides are clear before crossing.

She further noted the request by residents' KENHA to construct footbridges.

Loitoktok Sub-County Police Commander Shadrack Rutto warned drivers against speeding along the road, saying it can result in drivers failing to manage their vehicles, leading to accidents.

Kajiado South Constituency Member of Parliament Parashina Shakimba called on KENHA to install cameras and speed governors at Simba Cement to see drivers breaking traffic rules.

Since the beginning of this year, three students have died along the road after being knocked down by vehicles.
